Table Mountain (Aberdares) Hike

And in March 2026, I felt the need to go back and explore a hike in the Aberdares, this time it was Table Mountain.

Table mountain from a distance

Aberdares weather is usually unpredictable but anytime you are above 1,000m, it is always critical to dress warm. Don’t let the morning weather/sun deceive you.

Start of the trail

There are 2 ways to get to the summit. Either through 7 ponds summit which is quite gentle and beginner friendly. However, if you chose the direct route to Table mountain summit, it is quite steep. Of course I chose the latter.

It was a grueling 4 hours to the summit and about 2 and a half hours down, but I made it and got a view of Lake Olobosolat. Can’t wait for my body to stop aching this week!

Good stuff. The reason it’s called Table mountain is because the summit is on a relatively flat top.
