Limuru is the green Nairobi. An hour drive from the city centre, the myriad of tea plantations and forest cover welcomes you to one of Kenya’s tea growing landscapes. Between and behind these magnificent natural wonders lies the famous BrackenHurst Hotel and Garden.

The trip was courtesy of “Asili Nomads” who ensured time was of essence. Regardless of the self drive, the crew and I arrived within minutes of each other. Credit to the organizers as there were 2 options: hiking and cycling.
It has been a while since I laced my hiking boots and I had to go on two wheels for the day. Note, the hotel does provide the bikes and safety gear (helmets).

Once geared up, we headed for the gate as the cycling trail was around the hotel’s surroundings.

The trail took about an hour before we arrived at a grass airstrip (2 hours in total) where we missed a plane taking off by 10 minutes, and since I left my wings at home, there was nothing else flying on the runway besides a windsock.

To sum it up. The views, quietness, and the lunch was something for me to consider when I go there again….incase I don’t go for riding. Incase you wanna know, yes, the cyclists finished before the hikers.
